Something about putting the words "Bliss" and "Balls" together just makes me want to laugh/puke. Bliss balls are all the rage right now and a part of me wishes I had pressed these into a square slice, just to be different. Alas, they are still an epic raw food snack for at least three reasons: the are a delicious cure for a sweet tooth, super quick and easy to make, with added benefit of live enzymes, healthy fats, antioxidant power and energy boosting nutrients! The perfect quick dessert sans the usual white sugar/white flour overload. You can create a new variety every time you make these by using whatever nut/seed/dried fruit combinations you happen to have on hand. Ingredients
1/3 cup raw organic cacao powder 1/3 cup cold pressed virgin coconut oil 1 cup pitted fresh dates 1 cup activated nuts (I like almonds and walnuts) ½ cup shredded coconut, sulphate free 1 tablespoon chia seeds Method Soak dates in warm water for 15 minutes to soften. Whilst dates are soaking add nuts, cacao, shredded coconut, coconut oil and chia seeds to blender/processor and mix. Add dates and blend. If mixture is very dry add a bit more coconut oil. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Roll mixture into bite size balls, then roll in shredded coconut. Voila! You can freeze these bad boys and eat/share to your heart's content! x |
