It seems wrong to be posting about Feijoas so soon, but, I'm already seeing them everywhere! Summer days are still here in all their warm glory, but mornings and nights are getting nippy don't you think? I reckon feijoas are natures way of making our transition from summer into Autumn a little less traumatizing!
Feijoas are great for immunity, being an excellent source of vitamin C. By the miracle of nature they arrive just before cold and flu season (don't you love it!). I Here's a delicious smoothie incorporating the fruit of the season, another beautiful way to get your morning greens :) 3-5 feijoas 1 banana 2 handfuls of leafy greens (spinach, collards, chard, kale) 1 tbsp chia seeds 1-2 cups almond milk Blend and enjoy! Fun fact: The German botanist Otto Karl Berg named feijoa after João da Silva Feijó, a Portuguese botanist born in the colony of Brazil. Feijo was director of the Natural History Museum at San Sebastian, Spain, during the Colonial period. Interesttingggggg Need a high speed blender? I use and recommend the Optimum 9400 |
