Wow. This is probably one of the YUMMIEST green smoothie combinations out there. Before today I must admit I hadn't tried grapes in a smoothie. I don't know why, it just hadn't crossed my mind. But in a mad rush to speed up some seriously crappy detox symptoms, I resolved to get as many grapes in my system as possible. Why? Grapes are a known detoxifier. They contain procyanidolic oligomers (PCOs) - antioxidants up to 20 times more potent than those of vitamin C and 50 times stronger than the ones from vitamin E. The darker the grapes, higher their antioxidant properties. Plus, don't buy the seedless varieties. You wanna be blending and eating those little bullets of goodness. Other benefits include prevention of heart disease, lower blood pressure, strengthening of blood vessels and improved blood circulation.
And aside from all the health talk, this smoothie is bloody delicious. 1 cup of seedless grapes 1 mango, peeled 2 generous handfuls of leafy greens, spinach or kale 1/2 cup filtered water Optional extras: chia, LSA, Hemp protein etc. Serves 2 |
