I was trying to think of a fancy name for this hot choccy, but It is, plain and simple, the best hot chocolate! I'm a bit fussy when it comes to chocolate drinks. I don't like them too sweet, and I don't like them bland. This recipe has a creamy nuttiness, spiked with spice, coconut, and just enough sweetness. It will warm, nourish and satisfy you. Dairy and refined sugar free of course :)
'Twas the weekend of the Cyclone, the rain was pouring down, and I whipped up a pot of the best hot chocolate ever for 5 of my favourite friends: Ingredients: 1 heaped tbsp raw cacao powder 3 cups nut milk of choice, I used cashew nut milk 1 tsp vanilla extract or powder 1 tbsp coconut sugar or manuka honey 1 pinch cayenne pepper 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp cardamon 1 Tbsp coconut oil Gently heat all ingredients on the stove top, and as it heats, use a whisk or electric whizz stick to blend it all up smoothly. Remove from heat when it reaches your desired temperature. Serves 4 small cups. I made this again tonight and I had leftovers, which I used to soak oats for tomorrow's chocolatey breakfast, so we'll see how that goes! |
