Mōrena greenies! Today's a bit special. This is the smoothie that started it all. My mum made it for me one day back in 2010. Her close friend had survived breast cancer and her nutritionist introduced her to the healing power of green smoothies. She told mum, mum told me, and we've been drinking them ever since. Blend up 1 pear
1 fresh or frozen banana 1 kiwifruit - leave the fuzz on that bad boy! It's rich in flavonoids (antioxidants), insoluble fiber and folic acid (ONLY if you've got organic kiwifruit). 1/2 cup filtered water 2 huge handfuls of spinach Finish off with honey to sweeten, and feel free to add more goodness, like LSA, bran, oats etc. Serves 2 Today I added cucumber for a hydrating, alkalising boost. This smoothie is so packed with vitamins and minerals I don't even know where to start. In a nutshell: vitamin C (double your daily requirement), K, E, A, B2, B6, iron, folate, silica, potassium, magnesium, fibre, calcium, folic acid, protein, phosphorus, selenium, zinc, omega 3, manganese, copper, niacin and pectin. I probably missed a few! Thanks mum! |
